Fraser and Cathy Kennedy organize an annual Christmas dinner for anyone who wants to come at the New Horizon's Club in Pictou each year. - ContributedWhat is Christmas spirit exactly? And so they did. They contacted New Horizon's Community Club located at 14 Kempt St., Pictou. New Horizon's had everything they needed: ample space, a kitchen and it was wheelchair accessible.That first year they fed 25 people a free Christmas dinner, and it has only grown since then. Now, more than 100 meals are given between eat-in and delivery now. They deliver all over Pictou County for those that can't get out. Someone brings the meal right to their doorstep.
"We have about 25 volunteers that do the set-up, cooking, seating, clean-up and delivery. We have our food-handling courses, and we make sure everyone that cooks a turkey has a meat thermometer. All precautions are taken." Cathy said.
