While Bafana Bafana failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, at least four South Africans are flying the flag high for the country in Qatar. Check it out ➡️

South Africa fell agonisingly short in their quest to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after missing out to Ghana – who open their campaign against Portugal on Wednesday – but the country is at least being represented by no fewer than four flagbearers.

Chief among them is leading referee Victor Gomes and his assistant Zakhele Siwela who took charge of reigning champions France's resounding 4-1 group stage win over Australia on Tuesday.Earlier this week, former Bafana Bafana international Roger De Sá made an appearance on the sidelines in Qatar as Iran fell to England in their opening match of the tournament.

De Sá is currently the assistant to former South Africa head coach Carlos Queiroz with the Iranian national team and will on the spot again on Friday and next week Tuesday when they take on Wales and United States, respectively. Meanwhile, the South African Football Association's Chief Medical Officer Thulani Ngwenya has also made the trip abroad where he is serving as a Doping Officer at the World Cup.
