The photos and videos showed up on social media following Southern Columbia's 2A title win over Westinghouse on Friday.
Southern Columbia vs Westinghouse in the PIAA 2A football championship gamePIAA executive director Bob Lombardi said Saturday that he has asked Southern Columbia High School officials to investigate a racially offensive video and photos that surfaced online following the Tigers 2A title win over Westinghouse Friday.
The Post-Gazette said Lombardi said he has spoken with Southern Columbia principal William Callahan and City League athletic director Karen Arnold.“We asked Southern Columbia to investigate,” Lombardi said. “Let’s give the schools a chance to research, react and see what actions they take, and we’ll go from there.”
“This doesn’t belong in our interscholastic space,” he said. “We’ll review what they do and see if they need to come in for a hearing in front of our board.” The district said it immediately reported the videos and photos to the PIAA so that it could take action.
