Sudbury Pride chair said event felt ‘absolutely incredible,’ especially after two years of virtual celebrations
Hundreds of people turned up to participate in Sudbury’s Pride March in downtown Sudbury Saturday, one of the highlights of a full week of events planned by Fierté Sudbury Pride for 2022.She said her first Pride event was back in 2019, and that was followed by two years of virtual celebrations due to the pandemic.
This year’s marquee Pride events featured extra security, as the organizing committee had received some threats. Fortunately, though, the threats seemed to be unfounded, with nothing but happy participants in sight Saturday. “And while a lot of people think, ‘Oh, we've got rights now, we're safe now,’ human rights just as easily as given can be taken away,” he said.
