The Belgian boss has made an instant impression on the Ibrox legend after a win over Hibs and draw in Prague.
Philippe Clement is just days in the door at Ibrox but I’m convinced he’s the straight man Rangers have been crying out for.
Everyone in the team looks as though they know their roles and know what they are doing when they go out into the pitch. It’s only been a short period of time that Clement has been on the training pitch with the players, but they look as though they have been coached really well since the new manager has come in.
Nine points should be the target as that’s the number which I believe gets you through into the knock-out stage. Rangers need to be looking at both Sparta and Aris at Ibrox and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t do that. The one criticism is that the goal threat needs to be greater, there needs to be a more ruthless approach to finishing off opportunities and that more than anything is why there weren’t three points to show for what was a real team effort. Sparta also had their chances, there’s no doubt about how inventive they were in the final third but Clement will also be happy with the opportunities his team had but it’s an area he knows needs to be worked on.
He’s spoken about a story not being written in the space of ten days but I can see a huge difference in the last two games from what has been before. I said before the game that I would happily take a point in Prague and I stand by that. No matter who you come up against away from home in this competition, a draw is a decent result and that was the case on Thursday night.
