Phase II and Friends will put on the show, A Merry Island Christmas, at West River United Church in Cornwall on Dec. 4. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the church at 902-566-4052 or by calling Gerry Hickey at 902-393-3251. ContributedCORNWALL, P.E.I. — Phase II and Friends will host a Christmas fundraiser concert at West River United Church in Cornwall on Dec. 4.

Group spokesperson Gerry Hickey said the band prides itself on not doing the same old Christmas concert traditions. “Gwen Steffani has a new version of Jingle Bells, with just enough innovation to make it interesting. Randy Bachman, of BTO fame, wrote Christmas lyrics to the super hit Takin' Care of Business, changing it to Takin' Care of Christmas."
