Former youth international forward Phakamani Mahlambi faces an uncertain future at Mamelodi Sundowns after an injury-plagued loan spell.
Mahlambi spent the past season at Chippa United but managed just three appearances under Gavin Hunt before injury struck. The 24-year-old's last appearance was back in September last year with injuries playing a role in his absence.Still 24, Mahlambi remains under contract at Sundowns though the club must now decide on the option of a further year on his contract.Sundowns have up to the end of the month to decide but it is expected that they will not keep him considering that his last appearance for the club was in August 2020.
The only impact that he made with The Brazilians after being acquired from Egyptian heavyweights Al Ahly was in his first season when he scored six in 29 appearances before his input dropped to a single goal in 15 matches in his second year.So many concerns have been raised about his social life, which has been pointed out as having contributed to his current situation.
From being one of the brightest prospects when he broke through into the professional ranks at Bidvest Wits, Mahlambi now finds his career in doubt before turning 25.
