The comedy legend is on a long running sell out tour, kicking off his AO Arena residency in Manchester on Friday night
Peter Kay was praised for a touching gesture as he opened his Manchester residency. The comedy legend is performing a series of sell out gigs at the AO Arena with huge interest sparking more and more dates being added to the tour.
Faced with the heartbreaking diagnosis, Laura, from Pendle, set about completing a bucket list of goals which included meeting Kay, going fishing with Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer, meeting Johnny Marr and watching Fleabag being performed live on stage. She also presented the BBC weather forecast and raised thousands for brain cancer charities.
Following her diagnosis, Laura had to drop out of university in London and was forced to put her life on hold while she bravely endured a craniotomy to remove the largest of eight tumours. She then started a gruelling programme of radiotherapy and chemotherapy before her family discovered an innovative new treatment was available in Germany.
Nicola said at the time that seeing her graduate was incredible after being told Laura only had a life expectancy of around a year and wouldn’t be going back to university at all, and that it was a real celebration of her tenacity. Laura continued raising money and awareness for brain charities, as well as promoting the research being undertaken at The University of Manchester’s Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre.
