The casualty had to be recovered from the shore using a stretcher and rope teams due to the tricky terrain
The Coastguard was called in to action today after a person fell from a height at the Giant's Causeway and was seriously injured.
Locals said conditions on the rocks were said to be slippery following heavy downpours in the local area. The person's injuries were described as "traumatic" and they were taken to hospital by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. "The casualty was recovered to the waiting ambulance using our rope rescue stretcher by a combination of hand carry and 'caterpillar' technique, a method of slowly passing the stretcher along parallel lines of rescue officers to clear treacherous terrain."
