Paula Radcliffe Sets Women's World Marathon Record in LondonOn this day in 2003, Paula Radcliffe defended her London Marathon title and set a new women's world marathon record. She finished the race in two hours 15 minutes and 25 seconds, becoming the first woman to run under two hours 16 minutes. Radcliffe beat her previous record by one minute 53 seconds and finished more than four minutes ahead of the second-placed runner. She was also the first Briton to cross the finish line in the mixed sex event.
