Nearly 16,000 people are receiving extra financial support to help with the neurological condition
Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, according to the charity, Parkinson’s UK. The most-recent figures from 2020 show that around 141,000 people across Great Britain are living with the condition, including more than 12,000 in Scotland.
He continued: “PIP is paid tax-free and can be worth up to £8,983 a year. Recipients are free to choose how they spend PIP, and there is no requirement for them to use it for any particular purpose. Even though PIP is being replaced in Scotland by Adult Disability Payment, it follows the same eligibility criteria, but takes a more ‘people-centric’ approach, according to Social Security Scotland - find out more here.
