Pentagon-leak suspect Jack Teixeira indicted by grand jury
faces six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information relating to national defence, with the department saying the alleged activities began in or around 2022 and continued until his arrest in April 2023, where he was charged under the Espionage Act.
Acting U.S. attorney Joshua Levy said in a statement that the “unauthorized removal, retention and transmission” of classified information jeopardizes the security of the U.S. and those granted access to such classified material have a duty to safeguard the information.“We are committed to ensuring that those entrusted with sensitive national security information adhere to the law,” he said.
