Just this week they got a call from someone who lost just under $50,000.
) -Over the last several weeks, Pensacola Police has taken several calls from people falling victim to scammers claiming to be members of law enforcement who are calling about an outstanding warrant. Officer Mike Wood says in a lot of these cases, scammers are asking for hundreds or thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency or a gift card. Investigators say scammers have been using public records to make these calls believable.
Investigators say they receive several reports of these scams each week.
