In what was Penn State’s first-ever visit to Jordan-Hare stadium, the lights can often be too bright, even for some of the highest-rated recruits. For Singleton, however, it was just another walk in the park against a Tigers defense littered with NFL talent headlined by Derick Hall and Owen Pappoe. Ten carries, 124 yards, two scores, that’s good for more than 10 yards a pop, and if you didn’t know his name going into the Big Ten-SEC showdown, you surely do now.
For Allen, he’s been the primary backup to Singleton but someone whose workload has shown signs of increasing within the first month of the campaign. A four-star back by way of Bradenton, FL, his vision and production when called upon has presented defenses with a case of pick your poison whether it’s he or Singleton running the rock. He also made two trips to paydirt against Auburn, and while his number of carries and total yards were substandard in comparison to his running mate, 5.
