The proposal comes a week after Pennsylvania approved a budget that flat-funded Penn State, along with Temple University and the University of Pittsburgh.
Pennsylvania State University plans to raise tuition by 2% for in-state undergraduate and graduate students at University Park for 2025-26, under a proposal approved by a school committee Thursday.
The money from the increases would also go toward faculty and staff promotions, professional development, and a 4% increase for graduate assistant stipends, said Thorndike, who also noted Thursday thatIn a presentation Thursday to the board’s committee on finance, business and capital planning, Thorndike noted that state appropriations for Penn State have remained “stagnant” since 2019 — excluding certain targeted increases, like for the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Meanwhile, housing and food costs would increase by 3.21% at University Park, to $13,880 a year. The increases would be slightly less at the Commonwealth campuses.
