Pelosi also said that Trump being elected in 2024"cannot happen" or"we will not be the United States of America" while speaking with New York magazine.“Don’t even think of that,” Pelosi said. “Don’t think of the world being on fire. It cannot happen, or we will not be the United States of America.” “If he were to be president, it would be a criminal enterprise in the White House,” Pelosi told the outlet.
The former House speaker, who led the lower chamber of Congress for both of Trump's impeachments, also said that she believed Trump committed a crime on Jan. 6, 2021, when the Capitol riot occurred.Trump was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights by a Washington, D.C.
The former president is widely expected to be indicted in Fulton County, Georgia, in the coming weeks on different charges related to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Trump lost the 2020 election, and the state of Georgia, to now-President Joe Biden.
