Reminiscent of the original Odeon cinemas, the building was constructed as the Ritz Cinema in 1938. By 1968 it had stopped showing films, and was instead converted into a bingo hall.
That remained its use for half a century until it closed in 2018. Despite recent plans for the site, including a pub, being suggested, no action has been taken, with the building continuing to be left neglected.Four years of abandonment has left the Grade II building in a dilapidated state. Frequent vandalism has caused great amounts of damage in every corner of the building, while debris is strewn across its many floors.visited the site to see its current condition.
