A pedestrian was seriously injured when struck by a pickup truck Thursday afternoon near Providence Alaska Medical Center, policeThe Anchorage Police Department said a report of a person struck by a vehicle at Piper Street and Spirit Drive came in just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The pedestrian was in a crosswalk when hit by a Ford F-250 turning onto Piper from a parking lot, police said. The driver remained on scene. The pedestrian was brought to a hospital with what police described Thursday as life-threatening injuries.No charges had been filed by Friday morning.
