Chicago fire officials said a pedestrian is in very critical condition after being hit by a bus in Back of the Yards Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department said a person was struck by and then pinned underneath a bus around 2:45 p.m. at 47th and Ashland in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood.The pedestrian was taken to University of Chicago hospital in very critical condition.

CTA said a westbound #47 bus was involved in the incident. The bus route has been temporarily rerouted in the area after the incident. No further details about the incident have been released. Chicago police have also not yet commented on the incident or the victim.
