Pearland girls overcome sluggishness to take victory over Clear Creek
Pearland’s Nyah Hardy helped the Lady Oilers claim a 42-21 win over Clear Creek Tuesday night at Pearland High School.PEARLAND — It’s a rare occurrence when the coaches from opposing teams are each satisfied in a game decided by 21 points.
“We only had one game last week, so we’re still trying to knock the rust off and get back in the swing of things.” Pearland would lead start to finish after Janae Tucker nailed a 3-pointer just 24 seconds into the game. However, that wouldn’t prove to be a harbinger for the rest of the night. Two baskets by Pearland guard Paige Bonner helped the Lady Oilers establish a 25-11 lead before teammate Nyah Hardy raced in for a pair of layups and a 29-14 advantage by the third period’s end.
