“Eight of 27 classrooms in our main school building do not have electricity. Thugs ripped out the plugs, cables and lights. There are huge holes in the fence,” she said.“Toilets and washing basins have been stolen. The whole grade R block has no electricity. Teachers have to carry water in 25 litres [buckets] to flush the toilets,” she said.

SGB chairperson Vuyolwethu Siwo said in June this year, the school spent R89,000 repairing toilets and an additional R130,000 on electric repairs. Since then, 10 more classes were vandalised and are in need of repairs.
