On Saturday, Grapevine police said it would not accept the $1,500 gift certificate to Cane Rosso and would instead donate it to an organization in need.
But some have accused Grapevine-based company of driving a wedge in communities and on. And over the weekend, many expressed disappointment with the police department for initially accepting the gift.
“Why would you think it was appropriate to associate with a group like Patriot Mobile,” Grapevine resident Jane Boyd wrote. “I am absolutely appalled. Not a good look for the Grapevine PD. So much for a fair and just police force.” Others said Grapevine police should have accepted the pizza and that an organization’s politics should not matter.If Grapevine police rejects the gift, Patriot Mobile said it would like the department to donate it to another police department, as the gift was intended to support law enforcement. A spokeswoman for the company said it paid $2,575 for the gift certificate at an auction for families of fallen soldiers.
“The response from the far left is not surprising to us, nor is it anything new,” Patriot Mobile CEO Glenn Story said in a prepared statement. “We have been called Christian Nationalists by those who want to silence us, to break us, to make us stop, but we embrace the term. We love our country and we love the Lord and we strive to be light in the darkness.”“Our community deserves to be heard, and we want you to know we are listening,” the department wrote.
