The Nationals’ veteran left-hander kept the Dodgers scoreless into the sixth. But the offense and bullpen did him no favors in a 4-1 loss.

Shohei Ohtani watches his 450-foot homer sail into the second deck in right-center field Tuesday night at Nationals Park. The Washington Nationals couldn’t have asked for much more out of starter Patrick Corbin — especially against a Los Angeles Dodgers lineup that he had faced six days before. Manager Dave Martinez took the ball from Corbin in the sixth inning, the scoreboard atdisplaying a 1-0 lead for the hosts and just three hits for the visitors.

The Nationals threatened in the ninth, loading the bases against Evan Phillips with two outs. But Jesse Winker struck out to end it. Tuesday’s start threatened to go sideways early when Corbin threw first-pitch balls to the first seven hitters he faced. He also worked out of a jam in the first, getting Hernández to ground out with two on.

But Harvey couldn’t replicate his success in the eighth. And neither did the relievers that followed Harvey.
