Pat has let his thoughts be known
The broadcaster presented the long-running chat show between 1999 and 2009, taking over from original host Gay Byrne.
Bookies' odds are already speculating that Miriam O'Callaghan, Jennifer Zamparelli or Claire Byrne could take on the role. Ryan broke his silence on the shock move earlier today following RTE's statement announcing his departure. "Hello everybody. Can I just say an enormous thank you for all the messages of good will and everything after I announced today that I'll be leaving the Late Late Show on May 26 after 14 years at the helm," he told his Instagram followers.
