A handful of young ladies from FBCA's elementary school display the signs they made for the football team before leaving campus and began their trek to Waco.WACO - The name of Lanham Briley will be etched in the memory banks of Pasadena-First Baptist Christian Academy's varsity football players for quite awhile.

The Warriors, in falling from the unbeaten ranks but still coming home with an outstanding 13-1 season record, led on the scoreboard for the grand total of 14 seconds. Donald Guillory scored from four yards out with 4:40 to play in the first quarter, creating an 8-6 lead after freshman placekicker Samuel William tacked on the two-point PAT. But one play later, Briley was notching his second touchdown pass of the game and FBCA never enjoyed an advantage again.

"He's been First Team All-State the last two years. He's thrown for over 8,000 yards in his three years as a starter. He threw for 4,200 last year. He threw 13 touchdown passes against Richland Springs alone last year. He's a good one. he's hoping to play at the next level," Fort Worth Covenant Classic head coach Ron Abrams said."Any school that gets him will be doing good.

"He's more elusive than people think. They look at him and they don't think he moves very well because I don't run him a lot. He knows where to move, when to move and how to find targets,. He's going to be a hard one to replace but we've got two young ones coming behind him," Abrams said. "They had some really quick dudes off the ball, something we haven't seen all year. We had a little hint of it with Conroe Covenant but not Covenant Classical. We were prepared, but we weren't prepared enough. They were just the better team. God had a purpose for us taking second place and hopefully we'll get it next year," Gasque said.
