Parks Canada has reopened more areas of P.E.I. National Park as recovery from Fiona damage continues.- FileCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Parks Canada is reopening more areas of P.E.I. National Park following repairs needed due to post-tropical storm Fiona.
Meanwhile, the Dalvay lookout parking area north of the Gulf Shore Parkway was damaged by Fiona and has been removed due to safety concerns. Stairs providing access to Dalvay beach are being installed in spring 2023. Additionally, erosion around approaches to Covehead Bridge will need more work to be made safe for vehicles. Parks Canada plans to do repairs and shore protection work at the approaches to the bridge to protect it. While the section of the road is closed, snow will not be cleared over the winter.
