The Culture Secretary said she is willing to look at details of a possible loan, but claimed permanently returning the artefacts to Greece would 'open a can of worms'

“A lot of people have spoken of a 100-year loan, which I don’t think is in the spirit of the legislation at all, that is akin to giving them back. It’s almost like trying to find a loophole around it. And that’s certainly, in my conversations with George Osborne at the British Museum, not what he’s planning to do.
