Part of 1604 closed down after truck crashes into Gold Canyon Bridge
The collision damaged two support beams and put a hole in the asphalt on the bridge, according to authorities.A portion of Loop 1604 is shut down after a commercial vehicle crashed into an overpass bridge, San Antonio police said.
The vehicle, which was hauling construction equipment with a boom extending over the height limits, was traveling eastbound when it collided with the overpass near Gold Canyon Road over Loop 1604 on the far North Side. The collision damaged two support beams and put a hole in the asphalt on the bridge.
Police believe it may be several hours before the eastbound lanes of 1604 will reopen. The southbound lanes of Gold Canyon Road will remain closed until further notice. The Texas Department of Transportation engineers are inspecting the damage and will make temporary repairs to the bridge.
