Zuma surprised many on Tuesday afternoon when he said this in a video message shared by his foundation.

“This really touched me and I thought I should share my views by asking those who are saying this to say let’s all stand up and vote, and vote more especially for the organisation that brought us freedom: the ANC.”

He took issue with this, saying although he was also unhappy with a few things, he would cast his vote. “It is important for us to do this. Perhaps even I’m not happy with a few things, but I am going to vote. If we do not vote, we will be shocked when we no longer have a nation, no power to change people’s lives. I say please reconsider and vote. Thank you. Let’s go out and vote,” he said.
