Parma City Schools received an overall grade of 3.5 stars in the recently released Ohio Department of Education’s school report card.
“Like most report cards, it’s sort of a comparison of strengths and weaknesses,” Parma City Schools Superintendent Charles Smialek said. “There’s definitely strengths to the report card we’re proud of. The performance index, which will always be the simplest way to gauge our success, gives us one number of sort of how our students did on the state test.
Replacing a letter-grade system, the Ohio Department of Education’s star-based rating system includes overall ratings -- 3 stars means a district meets state standards. “We also have some highlights, our gap closing score was 5 stars, which is obviously the highest you can get,” he said.
