Parliament prepares for presidential inauguration with first sittings

The NA will convene for its first session on Friday at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Chief Justice Raymond Zondo will oversee the swearing-in of all designated members and the election of the speaker of the NA.These elections are essential for the proper constitution of the national assembly, as they ensure the leadership structure is in place to guide the house’s functions and duties.
George emphasised the significance of this process, noting that once elected, the president-elect ceases to be an MP, setting the stage for forming the new administration.George expressed that the first sittings of the NA and the NCOP reflect the electoral mandate of South Africans. The people have spoken. They have chosen a Parliament that will represent them as freely elected representatives, champion their causes and serve their interests for the next five years.
