Scenes of the sketch featuring drag queens have sparked outrage among Christians around the world.

The senior pastor of 3C Church and chairman of Rhema Family Churches, Pastor Bert Pretorius says the portrayal of the ‘Last Supper’ at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games on Friday shows a disregard for many people’s spiritual values.

A segment displayed during the opening ceremony featured a group of drag queens, as well as dancers, arranged around a long table in a scene evoking Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper,” which depicts Jesus Christ and his twelve apostles.Pretorius says the organisers of the Paris Olympics have been insensitive towards Christianity.

“It underscores the lack of sensitivity and respect for diverse beliefs. We are called to co-exist in the world. This is an extremely disheartening development. As Christians, we’re mostly tolerant and peaceful. We turn the other cheek. We’re proclaiming meekness but meekness does not mean weakness,” he said.
