Parents are being encouraged to talk to their children about underage drinking in a new campaign. 71% of young people between the ages of 11 to 15 have said their parents or carers are their main source of alcohol.

Influencers from the Daddy & Dad blog have backed a campaign to remind parents an alcohol-free childhood is the safest option for their children

‘Tom and I both experienced underage drinking as older teenagers, so the campaign’s message resonated with us,’ Jamie, 41, told Metro.co.uk. The organisation also found two-third of parents would like to have a source of advice in keeping kids safe from the risks of underage drinking, and only 13% feel they already have such a source.

‘To use a silly example, we see our kids mimic our jokes, how we speak and other daily habits. So, to think they wouldn’t be aware of our relationship with alcohol is perhaps an oversight, and it definitely shouldn’t be taken lightly. Other influencers involved in the initiative are ‘Dadlife’ author and parent-of-four Simon Hooper, The Only Way is Essex star and foster carer for 250-plus children Debbie Bright, and fitness instructor Javeno Mclean.
