Oculto 477 unveils Halloween cocktails
Oculto 477, the mezcal-focused speakeasy in Old Town San Diego, has announced several new spooky cocktails for Halloween. The bar gets its name for its location next to Old Town’s 1849-era El Campo Santo Cemetery, where 477 bodies are buried.
In honor of Filipino American History Month, South Bay chef-restaurateur Phillip Esteban is offering weekly Filipino heritage food specials during the month of October at his White Rice restaurants. Today through Monday, dishes brought to the Philippines by Spanish conquistadors are featured, including bulalo and empanadas. From Oct. 28 to 30, dishes introduced to the Philippines by the U.S.
Specials will be available at the White Rice booth at Liberty Public Market, 2820 Historic Decatur Road, San Diego, and at White Rice Bodega, 3586 Adams Ave., Suite 100, San Diego.Puffer Malarkey Collective restaurants are serving turon espresso martinis this month in honor of Filipino American History Month. The cocktail is made with vodka, Mostra cold-brew coffee, espresso and banana liqueurs. Turon is a banana lumpia dish from the Philippines.
