First time that two local host teams were in the Timber Cup championship final
The Par-en-Bas Sharks boys high school hockey team are the champions of the 2022 Timber Cup high school hockey tournament that was held in Yarmouth Dec. 16-18. TINA COMEAU PHOTOYARMOUTH, NS – For the first time in Timber Cup history, the two local host teams – the Par-en-Bas Sharks and the Yarmouth Vikings – made up the championship final of this annual high school hockey event held at the Mariners Centre.

TINA COMEAU PHOTOBut even with the extra Vikings attacker after Yarmouth had pulled its goalie, PEB held onto the lead and took the win – their first-ever championship of this tournament.
The Sharks had advanced to the championship after defeating Avon View 4-0 in the first semi-final of the morning. The semi-final match-up between Yarmouth and Bay View at the Timber Cup was a nail biter, with the Yarmouth Vikings winning 2-1 in overtime.
