Now, there are shortages of drugs such as Adderall and Ritalin used to treat ADHD as well as assorted barriers to immediately increasing the supply. In central Pennsylvania, some families are struggling to obtain medications needed for children to function well at school.

“We get multiple calls per week from families who report they can’t find their current medication at their current dose,” says Dr. James Waxmonsky, chief of the division of child and adolescent psychiatry at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.
