The Covid-19 pandemic has been a financial boon or bust for many Americans. Now, those affects are changing how soon they expect to retire.
Of those respondents, 24% said they plan to retire later than they did before the pandemic. Meanwhile, 11% said they plan to retire earlier.
Meanwhile, Gen X anticipates retiring at 64.3, while baby boomers expect to push their retirement age to 68.3. "Sometimes retiring later than planned can be much more difficult in practice than it is in theory," said Christian Mitchell, executive vice president and chief customer officer at Northwestern Mutual.
