Backstage at the show, Silvia Fendi was asked byabout the inclusive of nontraditional runway bodies in the show. "It’s liberating for me to portray these clothes in a different way, on different sizes. Especially because you talk to me and I am not really a prototype of that shape,” she said.
Of course, only having two curve models is not a huge leap towards size inclusivity, especially when over 50 models were used in the show. However, considering the fact that European shows are known for prizing size inclusivity much less than its American counterpart, this is certainly a notable moment and, hopefully, it sparks a change for the brand and Milan Fashion Week as a whole going forward.
