One has been arrested on suspicion of accessory to assault with a deadly weapon and other charges.

PALO ALTO – Authorities have identified four suspects in a theft-turned-shooting earlier this year in Palo Alto.

The suspects left the scene in a red 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which police said had been stolen earlier that day in San Jose. Officers searched for the suspects but only located three unlocked vehicles that had been rummaged through, according to police. Detectives eventually identified the suspects as two 15-year-old boys, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, all of San Jose. While detectives were able to place all four at the scene and develop information to support charging them with petty theft and conspiracy, the investigation into which one had the gun and fired the shot is ongoing, according to police.

The other 15-year-old and the 17-year-old have not been found, but police have asked the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office to charge them with conspiracy and petty theft.
