It was dumped near woodland

Two people have been ordered to pay a combined £600 over their roles in an industrial fly tip by a Nottinghamshire road. An Arnold resident asked another party to remove their rubbish in a trailer, before it was dumped near Normanshill Wood in Sutton-in-Ashfield, said Ashfield District Council.

The authority investigated the incident and issued both with a fixed penalty notice. Councillor Jason Zadrozny said, “We hope that this sends a clear message to residents from across the County and beyond that in Ashfield we will not hesitate to take strong action where we find fly-tipping. "Residents have a responsibility to check whether people collecting their rubbish have a waste carrier license. In this case, the resident in Gedling’s failure to do so has cost them a small fortune.”

He also heaped praise on his council’s community protection team who carried out the investigation. “Over the last year, they have really stepped up in the fight to make Ashfield safer and greener," he said.
