Four special elections in the Pa. Legislature in coming weeks kicks off Tuesday with one for the 27th Senate District.
With the three House districts in solidly blue territory in Allegheny County, however, Democrats are expected to sweep those races.
State Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver of Northumberland County is the Republican nominee. She is serving her seventh two-year term and represents all of Montour County and part of Northumberland County. Patricia Lawton is the Democratic candidate in the 27th state Senate District special election to be held Tuesday.Saying that her husband is a Republican, Lawton told the Standard-Journal that she wants to break the “gridlock” in Harrisburg.
The 32nd District seat race became necessary when voters re-elected longtime state Rep. Tony DeLuca even though he had died a month before the election.
