Five officers joined the Capitol police force on Wednesday, bringing it to 90 officers.
Standing before friends and family in the state Capitol Media Center and raising their hand, each officer individually repeated a lengthy oath administered by the police department’s Superintendent Joe Jacob. These new officers bring the department’s ranks up to 90 officers who are charged with protecting those who work and visit the Capitol Complex and nearby state office buildings.
