In late July, Pictou, Nova Scotia resident Bernie Currie and his wife were visiting Twin Shores Campground in Darnley when he lost his Pictou Mariners ring in the water.

While visiting Twin Shores campground in Darnley, P.E.I., New Brunswick resident Jeff Doucet took his metal detector in the water and recovered a Pictou Mariners ring from the 80s, pictured, and a wedding band. Both rings have since been reunited with their owners. - ContributedDARNLEY, P.E.I. — “It’s never come off in the water,” said Currie. “I never noticed it gone my wife and I were heading back to Charlottetown.

While visiting Twin Shores campground in P.E.I., New Brunswick resident Jeff Doucet was approached by an Ontario tourist whose son lost his wedding band in the water. With the help of his metal detector, Doucet was able to find the ring and return it to the owner's family. - Contributed While searching for the wedding band, his detector alerted him to something in the water. Doucet fished it out: a ring, but it was not the wedding band. Instead, it was the Mariners ring.

“Don’s wife jumped up and gave me a great big hug,” Doucet said, “They were pretty excited to get it back. As for the sports ring, Doucet took to Facebook that evening, hoping that the power of social media would locate whoever had lost it.
