The Upper Room Angels is beginning its 34th fundraising campaign for the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry’s Food Bank and Soup Kitchen. File, the major fundraiser for the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry’s Soup Kitchen and Food Bank, begins its 34th annual fundraising campaign on Sept. 1.
The goal for the campaign is $75,000. The amount will allow the group to continue its weekly contribution to the ministry to help buy food and supplies needed to help clients. Since its inception, the group has raised more than $2.4 million at a low cost. The 2021-2022 campaign raised $95,200 at the cost of four per cent, the group said.Over the last fiscal year, the soup kitchen served 40,651 meals, a slight increase. The food bank helped an average of 656 families per month, up from the previous year.
The Upper Room Angels, a non-denominational group, requests that members renew their membership. The group said there is also a need for new members, and money is not solicited by phone or house-to-house calls.
