Thomas and Sandra are the parents of MacDonald and Crane’s mother, Tammy MacDonald, a high school principal in Winkler, Man. Crane lived with his grandparents during the 2021-22 hockey season and last summer. This year, Crane is living with a billet family in Summerside, where he works at Source for Sports.

Crane, who turns 20 on Feb. 2 and has one year of eligibility remaining in the Maritime Junior Hockey League , said he has loved his time with the Caps and is grateful for the opportunity. Crane’s play has not gone unnoticed as he was selected to play with and captain Team Canada East to a silver-medal performance at the 2022 World Junior A Hockey Challenge in Cornwall, Ont., in December.
