An exhibit celebrating the achievements of BIPOC athletes on the Island is opening at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery just in time for the 2023 Winter Games. FileCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A new exhibit is opening at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery just in time for the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

The exhibition, co-ordinated by Bianca Garcia and organized by BIPOC USHR, includes historical photos and artifacts and contemporary photographs by Mi'kmaw photographer Patricia Bourque. The exhibit, located in the Frederic S. and Ogden Martin Concourse Gallery, is meant to show the impact BIPOC athletes have had on the Island and to inspire a new generation of BIPOC athletes.

Another exhibit, Land is not a mat to be rolled up and taken away, will also open at the Sobey Gallery on Feb. 17 and features new sculptures and videos.
