My mom and dad always helped me make it happen.”Rather than pressure Dwyer into a decision, Canada Games coaches CJ Keliher and Luke Beck put the athlete first. Dwyer goes straight from school on Tuesdays to gymnastics training and then right to hockey practice.

Beck said playing major U18 hockey is a huge demand. But to add on up to 15 hours a week of national-level gymnastics training, illustrates Dwyer’s work ethic and commitment. “For us, it was simply supporting our players in that decision. For us, we couldn’t think of a better captain and leader for our group than Ryan.”
