Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says border guards have recovered more than 140 cars.

The Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says border guards have recovered more than 140 vehicles that were stolen and smuggled to neighbouring countries.Motsoaledi is at the Beitbridge border post between South Africa and Zimbabwe where President Cyril Ramaphosa will launch the Border Management Authority later today.

The aim of establishing the BMA is to tighten border management by integrating a coordinated approach at the country’s various ports of entry. Motsoaledi says, “The border guards have intercepted 141 cars that were stolen and were about to cross the border into the neighbouring countries. Considering that they are only 200, we are satisfied that they are working very well. We will be introducing another cohort of 400 border guards, so we are no longer going to have 200, we will have 600, of course is still a small number.”
