Pierce Mills, 13, hosted a 490-name online petition for a skate park to be built in Copper Cliff, which the city is planning to build by the end of the year
Skateboard enthusiast Pierce Mills said he’s “kind of in shock” to see his dream come true in Copper Cliff.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to be able to wake up and walk to the skate park and have some fun,” he said. “Same with basketball, because I love basketball.” “It means the children and teenagers will have something to do,” area resident Al Nesseth said. “There’s an absence of activities for them.”
The current tennis courts look “a little derelict,” he said, adding that although the area has been set up to accommodate four courts, “the nets have been thrashed, and there’s usually only one or two decent courts, but even then they’re cracked, they’re split .. you never know where your ball is going to bounce.”
This way, she said, they can “tweak it at the end of the consultation in order to make the best decision for the entire community.”
