Unfortunately, possible thunderstorms bring the threat of lightning strikes sparking fires, yet the storms aren't expected to bring much rain.

The prolonged dry spell combined with the short-term forecast of wind, low humidity and possible lightning have put most of central Pennsylvania under a fire weather watch from the National Weather Service. Technically, the watch covers the hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. But because the dry and windy conditions are expected to continue throughout the week, the watch may well repeat for the next few days if not longer. The affected areas include: Clinton, Centre, Mifflin, Juniata, Lycoming, Sullivan, Union, Snyder, Montour, Northumberland, Columbia, Perry, Franklin, Dauphin, Cumberland, Adams and York counties.
The weather service warns that a lighting strike to dry vegetation could trigger a fast-spreading fire.More information about wildfire danger, burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and education, can be found at the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources at
